how to tie your shoelaces

So it took me about 40 years to learn that all this time I've been trying a "granny knot". So that's why my laces keep coming undone. Oh the shame! Well, better late than never! Shown on the top is the to-be-shunned sissy, er, 'granny' knot, with its signature 'unbalanced' look (http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/slipping.htm ). Contrast that with the picture on the bottom, of the balanced knot. The short of it, as put so eloquently by Aussi shoe-tying guru Ian Fieggen is:
Right over left, left over right,
Makes a knot both tidy and tight
Makes a knot both tidy and tight
Poetic, eh? For details, see http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/standardknot.htm
